Cities need comprehensive, city-wide, and multi-hazard adaptation strategies based on an assessment of their climate risks.

In their 5th year of collaboration, Bank of America and Impact Hub Asia Pacific are launching an innovative program focused on equipping cities and communities with solutions that can help curb the challenges of climate change.

The Climate Solutions Lab is a program that aims to source, select and support innovative ideas that will help partner cities to find solutions to address challenges they have identified through CDP's Climate Risk & Vulnerability Assessment.

We Are Working With

Climate Solutions Lab Shape in White Color

Mid to growth-stage entrepreneurs whose urban climate solutions tackle specific climate actions in the cities.

Our mid to growth-stage entrepreneurs prioritize SDGs (including but not exclusive to 7, 9, 11, 12, and 13) and are developing urban climate solutions aimed at tackling specific climate actions in cities.

The criteria for our selected mid to growth-stage entrepreneurs:

Work on urban climate solutions and have an SDG focus

See the value in joining the program beyond the cash prize

Be based in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan (Taipei only)

Be a mid to growth-stage entrepreneur

Be willing to be actively engaged with the local Impact Hub in your city (Impact Hub Jakarta, Impact Hub Kuala Lumpur, and Impact Hub Taipei) for technical and solution support

Be fully committed to joining the local showcase (and regional showcase if the solution is selected)

The responsible person must have a level of English that allows them to interact and relate to different spaces and networks of the program (please notify us in your application if this is a significant barrier to your participation)

We have partnered with each implementing city to validate their Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA), align their climate action agenda and support them to define areas of innovation where we will source targeted solutions by innovators

For the selected innovator of each city:
By joining this program, selected innovators will be able to access to:


Local Showcase
An opportunity for innovators to showcase their solutions in their respective cities and to key stakeholders in public and private sectors.


Grant Funding
The winning innovators in each city will receive an award of USD 3000, as well as extended support from the local Impact Hub to support the implementation of their solutions at a city-level


Regional Showcase
An opportunity for innovators with winning solutions to present their ideas to investors, strategic partners, and the public, with the aim of creating greater exposure and awareness on a national and regional scale in the Asia Pacific region.


Mentoring
Access to a global pool of world-class mentors from our global network offering support in piloting their solutions.


Network & Connections
Access to Impact Hub’s national and international network, with strategic connections for partnership development.

About The Program Organizers

Climate Solutions Lab is funded by Bank of America and in partnership with CDP, aims to source, select and support innovative ideas that will help partner cities to find solutions to address challenges they have identified through CDP's Climate Risk & Vulnerability Assessment.

Climate Solutions Lab is developed by Impact Hub Asia Pacific and Bank of America, and implemented in collaboration with Impact Hub Jakarta, Impact Hub Kuala Lumpur, Impact Hub Taipei, and Impact Hub Phnom Penh.

FAQ

  • For the First Phase of the program, we will select 10 innovators from each city to showcase their climate solutions on the local stage. Innovators must fill out the application form before September 16th, 2023.

    Only 1 winning innovator from each city will be selected from the local showcase to join the regional showcase and receive an award of USD 3000, as well as extended support from the local Impact Hub to ensure the implementation of the solutions.

  • The program will be taking place in Jakarta (Indonesia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Taipei (Taiwan).

    The mentoring and technical support for winning solutions from each city will be between December 2023 and February 2024. It will happen either online or at the respective local Impact Hub.

  • The program will be happening in 2 phases:

    Solutions selection and local showcase: mid-September 2023 to mid-November 2023 (the exact date depends on each local Impact Hub).

    Regional showcase and on-going technical solution support: mid-November 2023 to late February 2024 (the exact date of regional showcase day depends on each local Impact Hub).

  • Unfortunately no! You must be a mid to growth-stage entrepreneur where you are already working on urban climate solutions with an SDG focus.
